The Method Step By Step
The structure of the FitzGordon Method
varies with each individual. Below is an overview
of the topics covered over the course of the program.
Self awareness
Who am I? How do I move? Why do I move the way I do?
To start to change, you will understand where you
need to change.
The Pelvis
The pelvis is like the hub of wheel. When the hub
is not centered and properly aligned, the hub’s
spokes (the legs and the trunk) don’t know how
to settle in the proper places. This session will
teach you about the function and proper placement
of your pelvis.
The Footfall
Healthy feet work in a very specific way. Do you live
on the inside or outside of your feet? Learn how to
place your feet when you stand and walk. (While the
program benefits everyone, if your answer is the outside
of your feet, the program is for specifically for
you!)
The Leg
What is the difference between the knee joint and
the ankle joint? What is a hamstring? What is the
ileofemoral ligament? Learn all about your legs, and
how to use them as you never have before.
The Hyoid
There is only one bone in the whole body that “floats”.
Your hyoid bone is not connected to any other bone
in the body’s usual fashion. The majesty of
this bone is that it effectively connects the back,
the chest, the jaw and the skull to the spine. You
will learn to properly use this bone, which will align
the entire upper pole of your body.
The Trunk
The human nervous system initiates all of our movement
and controls movement patterning. Understanding our
structural design, with our trunk at the center, and
the proper use of our design allows our nervous system
to function at peak capacity.
The Rib Cage
Do you take your breath for granted? We breathe 18-20
thousand times a day. Learning how to best place the
rib cage opens up greater space for your lungs to
expand.
Soft Belly
By the end you are rooting your legs down into the
earth, lengthening your spine endlessly up to the
sky and feeling strong and steady in your center.
You will conclude the program by finding softness
in your core that will ease your thoughts and tension
as you walk through the rest of your life •
